Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) is set to hit the next huge milestone in her cancer recovery journey in Emmerdale.
Since her double mastectomy, Chas has been allowing herself time to recover.
It’s been slower than she’d anticipated, with a few bumps (and elbows) along the way, but she’s getting there.
But now, she feels it’s time for her to find her ‘new normal’ – by trying out prostheses.
Charity supports Chas
It’s a huge step for her, particularly making this move out in public, but she receives unprecedented support from the women of the village.
Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) reassures her though that she doesn’t need them, she’s herself with or without them.
But as always, Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) is there to offer the spanner into the works. Her words are more painful than Ruby’s elbow as Big Gob Kez drops a hugely insensitive comment, instantly triggering Chas, who flies into a rage.
Kerry is made fully aware that Chas will not be defined by breasts.
This is part of a wider psychological battle for Chas – she has yet to face her surgery scars. It’s another hill for her to climb, but Charity is right there with her.
Together, Chas braves her scars, lifting her top to see for the first time the scars that symbolise her life.
Will this be another huge step forward for her?
