Romantic EastEnders marathon twist as much-loved couple get engaged
Honey and Billy are engaged!
This article contains spoilers for Monday’s (April 22) EastEnders, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.
EastEnders has aired a huge twist with a much-loved couple agreeing to tie the knot after a dramatic series of events.
It was the day of the London Marathon in Walford, and Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) had a surprise planned for partner Honey (Emma Barton) ahead of her big race.
Unfortunately, things didn’t quite go to plan when Honey slipped out before breakfast, where Billy had planted a ring between her pancakes with the intention of proposing to her.
Honey and Billy are engaged!
By the time he got down on one knee, only Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) was left in the room, and he made it quite clear that he wasn’t about to accept Billy’s hand in marriage.
In a rush to get to the start line and propose before Honey set off, Billy ended up knocking Britney Wainwright (Lola Campbell) off her bike, and had to take her to hospital.
Thankfully he had just enough time to get to the start line before Honey started running, though he was left disappointed when he failed to grab her attention from the sidelines.
All he got for his efforts was a knock to the back from a passer-by, which sent his ring flying over the barriers.
When Billy went to retrieve it, he ended up being escorted to a police van, which an embarrassed Phil and Lexi Pearce (Isabella Brown) watched on TV.
In the van, Billy protested his innocence to the police officer and the self-confessed kleptomaniac who was being held alongside him.
Billy was full of relief when the police officer let him go and gave him the fastest directions to the finish line, but as he got there, his ordeal was far from over.
It soon became clear that the kleptomaniac had pocketed Billy’s ring, before making a run for it himself, leaving his whole plan thwarted.
However, when Honey, Billy and their family arrived back at the Queen Vic, everyone was left stunned by the London Marathon coverage on the TV, which showed Honey proposing to Billy in a shock twist!
Though things didn’t exactly go to plan, Billy ended up getting his wish – but will it last?
