George Knight contacts long-lost son after shattering news in EastEnders

George tries to contact his estranged son

George Knight (Colin Salmon) decides that it is time to make contact with estranged son George Junior in upcoming EastEnders scenes, following some shattering family news.

The family was recently rocked by the shocking death of Gloria Knight (Elizabeth Counsell) following a fatal heart attack, just hours after Eddie Knight (Christopher Fairbank) was found guilty of a racially motivated murder.

Gloria and Eddie first arrived in Albert Square back in January, and they soon turned George’s life upside down by admitting that they had been paid to take him in and had lied about his heritage.

Things only got worse when George discovered that they had only come clean because Eddie was set to face trial for murdering a man 40 years ago, and needed George to stand as his character reference.

During a dramatic confrontation with Eddie, George revealed that he was present the night of the murder, and remembered Eddie and his friends attacking a man.

Things became even more painful for George when he learnt that the man in question had been his biological father, and Eddie had killed him after instructions from Gloria not to let him take George away.

This admission from Gloria fractured her relationship with George almost beyond repair, and though she tried to do the right thing by telling the prosecution what George had saw and urging him to testify against Eddie, George couldn’t forgive her when she continued to stand by Eddie’s side.

However, when George stood up in court, Gloria made it clear she was on his side, and later revealed how proud she was of him.

Having been instructed by daughter Anna Knight (Molly Rainford) not to leave things on a bad note with his adopted mum, George rushed after her, only to find that she had collapsed.

She later passed away with George by her side, having suffered a heart attack that caused irreparable damage.

In the midst of his grief, George calls estranged son George Junior in upcoming scenes, desperate to update him on the tragic news of Gloria’s passing.

However, he can’t get any further than his voicemail.

Will George ever be able to get back in contact with his estranged son, or has he lost another family member for good?
