EastEnders spoilers – Sharon Watts says a poignant goodbye to Phil Mitchell in emotional twist

The fear is rising

Time is finally going to run out for The Six in EastEnders. The café floor is set to cave in – and Keanu Taylor’s (Danny Walters) body is underneath.

Last Christmas, Linda Carter’s (Kellie Bright) life changed forever when she killed Keanu. Due to the fact other members of The Six – Kathy (Gillian Taylforth), Suki (Balvinder Sopal), Stacey (Lacey Turner), Sharon (Letitia Dean) and Denise (Diane Parish) – were all present when the death happened, they agreed to work together to save themselves from prison and keep the truth hidden.

They buried Keanu’s body in the café and desperately hoped and prayed that would be the end of the matter.

However, due to the severity of the situation, keeping it a secret has actually made things a lot worse.

The fear is rising

For Linda, she has returned to alcohol to cope with her problems, Stacey found comfort in the arms of Jack (Scott Maslen), while Denise suffered such an intense breakdown and was sent to a mental health unit for help.

Coming up, Linda nurses another hangover in the pub before the family are interrupted by a surprise visitor – Sharon’s back from Australia.

Catching up, Sharon panics when she learns that the weapon used to kill Keanu is currently missing and Johnny (Charlie Suff) knows what happened at Christmas.

Later, Linda is horrified when she’s unexpectedly presented with the meat thermometer as chaos ensues at The Vic. The six women are relieved to know the weapon has been found as Sharon agrees to dump it.

However, unbeknown to them all, the floor in the café has just caved in.

In the week, Sharon is distracted by a text that informs her of the development in the café. During an argument, she orders Phil (Steve McFadden) to leave, but he threatens legal action against her surrounding Albie before he goes.

‘At some point, she knows she’s going to have to face him and have that difficult chat about Albie, but she doesn’t have the headspace to worry about anything else other than what happened at Christmas,’ actress Letitia Dean explained.

‘Phil is Phil, so he doesn’t let her get away with it that easily and demands an audience with her, but she’s distracted, and he retaliates. They did love each other once, and there was a time when Sharon wanted nothing more than Phil to be Albie’s dad, but compared to everything else that is going on for her, it’s not at the top of her priority list.

‘But I think for all of Phil’s faults, he would undoubtedly put his son first.’

With the fear growing, the women anxiously await their fate.

Sharon, terrified about what will happen next, then finds Phil and reveals he can have access to Albie and makes him promise to be there for their son.

‘Her first concern is Albie. Accepting what she believes is her inevitable fate, Sharon heads straight to Phil to make him promise to look after their son,’ Letitia revealed.

‘He, of course, has no idea about her real motives, but she needs to make sure that if something were to happen to her, that their son would be safe.’

As gossip starts to spread, what does the future hold for The Six now the truth is unravelling?
