Martin Fowler’s misery over all of his wives dumping him for women in EastEnders

Martin hasn’t got the best dating history. Are Martin and Priya set to become Albert Square’s new power couple?

Poor Martin Fowler (James Bye) hasn’t had the best track record with women, as he explained to date Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy) following their misunderstanding over ‘group stuff’ in recent EastEnders scenes.

After an embarrassing situation which saw Martin get the wrong end of the stick and assume that Priya wanted to explore polyamory with him and Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara), Priya was determined to get things back on track.

Despite daughter Avani Nandra-Hart’s (Aaliyah James) disappointment, Priya asked Martin to join her for dinner, being sure to make her expectations clear from the outset.

Relieved that he wasn’t set to agree to something out of his comfort zone, Martin agreed to join her for dinner at Walford East – pointing out the irony that it was Ravi’s restaurant.

As their date got underway, Martin treated Priya to the full history of his fruit and veg stall, before asking her about herself.

Priya admitted that she’d never committed to a single career, before the conversation switched to their previous partners, and Martin revealed how his previous marriages had unfortunately ended.

In a bid to make Priya feel better about her track record with men, Martin admitted that his first wife, Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) had left him for another woman, while his second wife, Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) had gone on to marry a lesbian in prison.

Viewers may remember that Sonia Fowler confided in nurse friend Naomi Julien about her marriage problems with Martin, before sharing a kiss and eventually developing feelings for her.

Soon after, Martin and Sonia’s marriage came to an end, and she moved in with Naomi.

Later down the line, Martin married Stacey, though that soon came to an end when he was dragged into doing dodgy dealings for Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden).

When Ben threatened to hurt Stacey and the kids, Martin ended things with her in a bid to keep her safe, but was horrified when she later presented him with divorce papers.

Not long later, Stacey ended up serving a six month sentence in prison, and by the time she got out she had married Eve Unwin (Heather Peace), in a bid to help her get out of prison.

Priya was taken aback by Martin’s bad luck with women, and soon suggested that maybe he wasn’t very good in bed.

Martin flirtily pointed out that there was only one way for her to find out, and the rest of their date seemed to go off without a hitch, much to Ravi’s disappointment.
