Killer Amit’s mystery associate has been in Emmerdale before – as someone just as shady
Eagle-eyed Emmerdale fans may be experiencing déjà vu as new character Dee (Claire Cage), an associate of Amit Sharma (Anil Goutam), has been in the show before.
The dastardly businessman first arrived in the Yorkshire village last October, months after the death of his brother Rishi (Bhaskar Patel) who had been devastated by the revelation that he wasn’t son Jai’s (Chris Bisson) birth father – it was Amit!
In a further twist, we learnt that when Rishi fell down the stairs and passed away at Holdgate Farm, his brother was the one responsible in a bid to get his hands on inheritance money.
His evil ways have continued in recent weeks, with him now planning to rinse Dales stalwart Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) of his financial assets.
Amit is looking to fleece Pollard
Keen to get his hands on his fortune, he invited him to join a new ‘business venture’.
Many viewers are convinced that Pollard will be his next victim.
Last night (25th March) we learnt that he needed the money to pay back a woman named Dee, but little is known about who she is and what he needs to repay her for.
When he assured her that he was doing everything he could, she threatened: ‘That’s a great comfort thank you, Amit. You have got two days,’
‘If I don’t hear some good news we will meet again and I’ll bring a friend.’
Actress Claire Cage is no stranger to the ITV soap – she last appeared seven years ago in a storyline with Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) as a character named Kath.
Posing as a potential client for sisters Rebecca and Chrissie White (Emily Head and Louise Marwood), who needed a cash flow to sustain the Home Farm Estate, Kath was actually working for Robert so he could try and gain a share of the business.
She reappeared a year later, this time pretending to be a solicitor for Jimmy King (Nick Miles) who was trying to get revenge on Joe Tate (Ned Porteous).
Claire has a wealth of roles on her CV, having appeared in a guest capacity on Coronation Street and BBC soaps Holby City, Casualty, Waterloo Road and Doctors.
Actors playing a number of minor roles in continuing dramas is not an obscurity – according to the Emmerdale Fandom website, 494 players have starred as more than one character.
In Coronation Street, Anthony Schaeffer has appeared in fifteen different roles across 38 years.
