Emmerdale spoilers: Huge breakthrough for Charity Dingle and Mack Boyd – but the agony isn’t over
The journey isn’t over yet
Damon ‘Harry’ Harris (Robert Beck) has been haunting Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) from beyond the grave through intense episodes of PTSD, leaving Charity a sleep-deprived wreck in Emmerdale.
As her mental health has deteriorated her whole life has started to implode, including her relationship.
Mack (Lawrence Robb) started to suss Charity wasn’t coping after she booted everyone out of the pub on Suni’s birthday over a simple broken glass. He urged her to get help and she promised she would seek support from the GP.
But it ended in disaster when she lost it at Ella for asking what was wrong and she ended up trashing Harry’s grave instead.
The journey isn’t over yet
Things deteriorated further when, gripped by a terrifying night terror of Harry, Charity lashed out and stabbed a startled Mack.
But it’ll take more than a punctured gut to bring Mack down, and he bounces back from the life-threatening wound ready and willing to support Charity with what she needs.
There is some good news for the pair when they learn that no charges are to be pressed. But it becomes clear the road ahead is a long one when Mack attempts to hug Charity and she flinches away from him.
Charity knows she has to try otherwise nothing will change, and he’s thrilled when she later texts him saying he can bring the kids around the next day.
It’s a huge step forward for the couple as it hints at Charity’s recovery.
But when they all arrive, Charity is left feeling overwhelmed – it’s too much too soon.
Mack is in tune with her and can what’s happening, which is another ray of light for them – they’re finally on the same page.
But it’s a sign that things are still far from ok. Is Charity set for another breakdown?
