Emmerdale spoilers: Rhona’s jaw drops as Mary hits her with a big bombshell

Can she keep Marlon and Gus both happy?

It appears Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) isn’t the only one struggling with the emotions surrounding Ivy’s birth in Emmerdale, as Mary (Louise Jameson) reveals a surprising secret.

We know that Rhona is the biological mother of baby Ivy, something that only happened because ex-partner Gus (Alan McKenna) stole her frozen embryos so his wife Lucy could get pregnant.

Shortly after Ivy was born, Lucy died, leaving Rhona in a difficult position of wanting to see her daughter, but being constantly challenged by the legal and ethical points surrounding the connection.

Coming up, Mary decides to help Gus with Ivy, but feels concerned when a call from the funeral directors further highlights that he is struggling to cope.

Rhona’s desperate for news

Back at home, Rhona catches Mary slipping out of the house to see Gus and Ivy.

Confronting her, Rhona is desperate for her mum to reveal any news about the little girl.

Thinking it’s for the best, Mary downplays how much Gus is struggling to Rhona and then returns to his house.

However, when she gets there, Mary realises that Gus is reaching his absolute breaking point.

Later, Rhona’s jaw drops when Mary arrives home with Gus and Ivy in tow.

The next morning, things are difficult over breakfast after a night of little sleep due to a crying Ivy.

Rhona attempts to keep the peace, but it’s clear Marlon (Mark Charnock) is lacking patience for the new house guests.

But what will Rhona do next, given the fact she knows Gus isn’t coping?
