George Knight betrays Elaine Peacock in shock EastEnders storyline
Is the end near for the Walford couple?
EDDIE and Gloria Knight have left their adoptive son George with some food for thought as he struggles to cope with their secrets.
Overwhelmed, the EastEnders character turns his back on his fiancée Elaine Peacock and seeks comfort from another woman next week.
Linda Carter welcomed her mother Elaine Peacock back into Walford as the returnee (portrayed by new actress Harriet Thorpe) took charge of business in The Queen Vic.
Upon her return, Elaine made it clear she wouldn’t be alone and, soon enough, her partner George Knight (Colin Salmon) and his two daughters Anna and Gina arrived.
The couple seemed strong enough to face the ups and downs of life in Walford, particularly as George asked for Elaine’s hand in marriage.
Sadly, cracks begin to appear as George is left wishing he could bond further with his former wife, Cindy Beale whom he once knew as Rose.
In a surprise twist, “Rose Knight” was revealed to be an alias for Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) who had enrolled in the witness protection scheme.
Cindy eventually returned from the dead to Albert Square with her husband Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) in tow and found George with Elaine, his new bride-to-be.
The pair clearly have unfinished business to handle and, in scenes airing next week on BBC One, they seem to finally get started.
Coming up, George is finding it hard to cope with the fall out of his conversation with his adoptive mother Gloria.
Sadly, he isn’t comfortable sharing his pain with Elaine.
Later, he leaves Cindy a voicemail to say he wishes she were there as she left Walford to go on a trip.
In other scenes, Ian’s perturbed to hear Cindy has cut her trip short and come home, especially as she hasn’t been to see him.
It’s soon revealed that Cindy is with George, who needs to talk through his anguish over Gloria and Eddie’s court case.
Cindy reminds George she’ll always be there for him when he needs her – could they be gearing up to give their romance another chance?
The pair have had a turbulent year following Cindy’s return and the revelation that Rose Knight never really existed.
But in September, another huge hint that they could embark on a passionate affair was dropped as the exes shared a secret kiss.
They were then caught in the act by their daughter Gina and dismissed the smooch.
Could George ditch Elaine for Cindy?
As viewers of the London-based program will remember, George recently found out that his adoptive father Eddie was accused of murdering a man named Henry Kofi Asare.
Henry had been missing since 1984 and his murder is thought to be racially motivated.
How will George cope?
Could he cut ties with his father, much like Gina seems to prefer, once and for all?
EastEnders airs from Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
