EastEnders spoilers: Massive shocker as surprise character uncovers Christmas murđť••er
Linda finally cracked and spilled The Six’s big secret
This article contains spoilers from Thursday’s (February 15) episode of EastEnders which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.
For several weeks, EastEnders viewers have been left wondering which of The Six were going to crack and reveal the truth about the events of Christmas Day first.
As the women worked to hide Keanu Taylor’s (Danny Walters) body, it looked as though Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) was going to find it most difficult to keep the secret, after everything she had been through following her murder of Archie Mitchell all those years ago.
Likewise, when Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) began to crumble during her police interview, panicking when she accidentally let slip details of the story that the women were trying to hide, it seemed that she could be the one to trip them up.
Linda finally cracked and spilled The Six’s big secret
Thankfully, both Stacey and Kathy have managed to keep a lid on things in the weeks since the murder and, alongside Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal), have been the ones trying hardest to hold the rest of The Six together.
With Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) having taken herself off to Australia to avoid the fallout altogether, it was a toss up between Denise Fox (Diane Parish) and actual killer Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) as to who would be the first to cave.
Though Denise’s mental health has deteriorated drastically, and she has come close to confessing on several occasions, she too has managed not to let their secret slip, despite the clear impact it is having on herself and her family.
With Linda’s drinking also now out of control, and her drunken ramblings having almost tripped her up before, she had done well to keep quiet for this long. But with son Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff) asking all the wrong questions, Linda finally broke and revealed all.
Johnny returned to the Square after a call from Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) left him concerned for his mother’s wellbeing.
After arriving and learning that rapist Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) was back on the scene, he was sure that that was what had sent Linda spiralling, and made it his mission to get rid of him for good.
However, in recent scenes, Gina Knight (Francesca Henry) gave him food for thought when she revealed that Linda’s drinking had ramped up around Christmas, and not when Dean had initially arrived.
When Linda later freaked out in the café after Dean had left the building, Johnny started to wonder if there was something more bothering her, and later confronted her about it.
It didn’t take long for Linda to admit that she had killed Keanu in defence of Sharon, who he was trying to strangle, leaving Johnny absolutely speechless.
How will Johnny react to the news, and how will his knowledge of their secret affect The Six going forward?
