A desperate Rhona doesnā€™t want to say goodbye. Can they find her in time before having to come clean to Gus?
Rhonaā€™s (Zoe Henry) finally at breaking point over the baby Ivy saga in Emmerdale and it sees her snap.
Sheā€™s been teetering on the edge ever since Ivy entered her life, but with Gus (Alan McKenna) turning up on the doorstep ready to be a dad again, Rhona plummeted over the proverbial cliff.
While initially Gus wanted to take his time in re-bonding with the baby, heā€™s now ready to take her back in a turn of events that has surprised and terrified Rhona.
Having learned from Ethan (Emile John) that she has no case to fight for custody of baby Ivy, Rhonaā€™s been plotting how she can find other ways to keep Ivy in her life.
A desperate Rhona doesnā€™t want to say goodbye
But Rhona is in hell when Gus returns,Ā finally ready to take his daughterĀ with him. He collects up all her things ready to take her home.
Rhona tells Marlon she hopes that Ivy plays up for her dad to highlight that heā€™s not ready. This should be a signal to Marlon that all is not well in Rhonaā€™s head.
The next day they meet with Gus and Rhona immediately whips the baby up in her arms, but is shattered to hear that Gus is coping well. So well in fact, heā€™s ready to find them a permanent home.
Marlon tentatively suggests they co-parent, but thatā€™s not in Gusā€™ plans.Ā His plans involve a permanent move to France.
Guilt hits Gus about dropping his big news, so the next day he returns to give Marlon and Rhona the chance to say their goodbyes. Therein lies his mistake.
Rhona is broken, and a broken Rhona does not behave rationally. When Marlon returns home later, he finds Ivy and Rhona have disappeared, along with their belongings.
Marlon tells Mary and the two are petrified of what this will mean for Rhona.
