Home and Away reveals sentencing drama for Irene Roberts
Dana and Harper face a dilemma as Irene heads to court.
Home and Away will air dramatic scenes in the UK next week, as Irene Roberts prepares to receive her sentence for harbouring Dana Matheson while she was on the run after being framed for drug-related crimes.
In scenes that will air on Channel 5 next week, Irene checks her phone to discover a barrage of missed calls from her lawyer. Irene discovers that her sentencing day is tomorrow and reality hits her hard.
Following the news of her court hearing, Irene is really struggling with her worry. While her lawyer has been trying to make the severity of the situation clear, Irene has been burying her head in the sand.
Irene is forced to be truthful with Dana and her sister Harper, as she explains that there is every chance she could end up in prison for what she’s done.
Despite Harper’s lawyer advising against it, she is determined to stand by Irene and support her in court after everything that Irene has done for the sisters. However, Dana is worried about the repercussions that this could have on their own futures and feels that they should be dutifully following their lawyer’s advice to steer clear of Irene.
But Harper refuses to abandon her friend, and so Dana appeals to Irene to be the one to enforce the distance between them.
Irene continues to push Harper and Dana away as she tries to help their case, leaving the sisters feeling guilty.
Dana feels bad that she has dragged Irene into this, but is convinced that Harper needs to put herself first for once. However, Harper explains to her sister that she knows Irene is tough, but even tough people need to have someone in their corner when things go wrong.
As Irene’s sentencing arrives, she despondently makes her way into court alone – until Harper and Dana unexpectedly catch up to her.
The sisters announce that they’ve talked things over and decided that Irene isn’t the boss of them – if they want to show up to court and support her, then she can’t stop them.
Irene is overwhelmed with relief and gratitude to have the girls in her corner after all – but will their decision come back to bite them?
